BIOCERINE is the technology developed for the production of glycerine. The process can be adapted to different raw material qualities coming from different industrial sectors.
The purification process is a critical factor to ensure the required specification, our own developed process uses physical separation methods ensuring product quality, efficient use of resources and internal effluent treatment.
Furthermore, KVT offers consulting and engineering services to support customers who are interested in developing glycerine derivatives products and related production technology.
KVT has developed a process technology to produce sustainable green solvents from glycerine as glycerol-formal and isopropylidene-glycerol as well as the technology for the production of epichlorohydrin and epoxy resins.

The EIPROVIT technology is a modular closed-loop process for the production of epichlorohydrin starting from the raw material crude glycerine. The plant consists of a glycerine distillation unit, an epichlorohydrin production unit, a brine treatment unit and an off-gas treatment unit. The treated brine can be reused in other industrial processes, providing a unique, complete, closed-loop process. The off-gas treatment can generate energy for the plant. EPIPROVIT is closely linked to chlor-alkali electrolysis plants as HCl is a raw material used for epichlorohydrin production. The brine, internally produced and treated, can be recycled as a raw material for chlor-alkali electrolysis plants.

The OXYSULF technology is an innovative wet process for the production of sulfuric acid from sulfur-containing off-gases. This technology combines sustainability with guaranteed low emissions. The process is based on catalytic oxidation or a combination of thermal and catalytic oxidation of sulfur–containing compounds by forming sulfuric acid. It is able to handle contaminants such as SO2, H2S, COS or CS_ at a wide range of concentrations.

Technologies for environmental protection, for the closure of material cycles, for the recovery of resources from waste streams

CATOX – Catalytic Oxidation – is a technology for the treatment of off-gas streams with a medium heating value typically in the chemical, oil and gas or textile industry.

THERMOX – Thermal Oxidation- is a technology for the treatment of off-gas streams with a high concentration of VOC.

CHLOROX is a technology for the treatment of liquid and gaseous chlorinated effluents with reliable emission control and safe operation. The process is based on a thermal decomposition of chlorinated organic compounds recovering steam and HCl.

BDI-BioEnergy International develops processes and builds plants to convert even the lowest quality of waste oils and fats to biodiesel, exceeding the most stringent standards in accordance with EN 14214 and ASTM. The BDI multi-feedstock process can convert a wide range of raw materials such as animal fats, used cooking oils, trap greases, and vegetable oils into high-quality biodiesel with maximum yield and low operating and maintenance costs. For the most challenging feedstocks, the BDI RepCAT process makes use of a heterogeneous catalyst to convert raw materials consisting of up to 99 % free fatty acids to biodiesel and produces salt-free, distillate-quality glycerin as a by-product.

With the BDI Advanced PreTreatment process plants, oils and fats are purified to fulfill the stringent requirements for use as raw materials for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) production.

BDI’s Advanced PreTreatment technology is a modular process concept consisting of the core modules PrePurification, washing, and adsorption, and is completed by other optional modules like our patented polyethylene reduction process. These are chosen based on the requirements for the different raw materials, e.g. used cooking oil, animal fat or palm oil mill effluent. This assures minimal losses of oil to achieve high yield and a high-quality purified product.

For efficient chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste streams, BDI offers its SynCycle plastic pyrolysis process, which converts polyolefinic plastic to pyrolysis oil fractions that can be re-processed to new plastic products.

In the SynCycle process, plastic waste is cleaned, melted and extruded into a pyrolysis reactor, where it decomposes into pyrolysis oil vapors, which are recovered in a multistage condensation process. The resulting circular oils can be fed back into a refinery process or used as secondary feedstock for new plastic production. The process design is modular and compact, ensuring easy and flexible decentralized installation.

Biogas

To reclaim waste streams and sustainably produce energy, any organic substrate can be processed using BDI Biogas technology. Ideal feed materials for BDI’s biogas process include waste and side streams from breweries, food production, and the poultry industry. This flexible anaerobic digestion process can be designed as single- or multi-stage, optimized for the specific feedstock to achieve maximum yield and product quality.

The compact design of the plant allows for direct on-site integration, generating process heat or electricity from the produced biogas. Alternatively, the biogas can be purified further and fed into the gas grid for profit. Additionally, the remaining digestate can be utilized as a certified agricultural fertilizer.
